Hello, I’m Tiff…

I serve Burlington’s South End in the Vermont House of Representatives. I moved here with my partner, Liz, in 1997 when the legislature was debating civil unions. We wanted to plants roots in a state that would welcome the family we wanted to have and in which we could feel connected to community. Two kids and 27 years later,  we have never looked back. Vermont is home because of the friends we have made, the work and volunteer communities to which we feel deeply connected, and the sense of possibility for political, social, and economic engagement.

Four years ago, in the early throes of the pandemic, I threw my hat in the ring to run and represent the South End in the VT House. Today, I’m humbled and excited to ask for your support once again.

The legislative process is a team sport that thrives on diverse skills and temperaments. What have I brought to the table?

  • A seasoned ability to build bridges across political divides and personalities.
  • A willingness to dig into the details, as evidenced by identifying three state initiatives – all of them equity related – that the Administration had not remembered to include in the budget.
  • The persistence to spend four years convincing two committees to pass the third draft of a crucial bill to reform the process by which people are substantiated for child abuse.
  • The creativity to chart multiple paths forward when funding recovery housing hit a roadblock.

I am so proud to represent a district that is passionate about community-building and public policy. And I am so grateful for my constituents’ input and for entrusting me with representing their values and interests in the Vermont House.
